We at Gallop South are currently looking at ways to encourage racegoer participation in Otago and Southland.    

The Thoroughbred Industry in Otago and Southland needs regular racegoers and followers for it to succeed.  There are a number of benefits from attracting more people to attend the races; the primary benefit being higher on-course turnover which ultimately leads to the clubs being better off financially.

To encourage higher racegoer participation Gallop South has formed a “Racegoers Club” which is made up of 50 members.  The Racegoers Club has now sold all 50 memberships so unfortunately there are no more spaces available if you were wishing to join.

It is a one year promotion that runs from the 1^st August 2010 to the 31^st July 2011.  Please find the link to the Gallop South Racegoers Club brochure which explains how the club works, the benefits of being involved, the cost and terms and conditions.

Gallop South has experienced good growth in all areas concerned with our Thoroughbred Racing Industry but we do not want to become complacent.  We have to keep working hard to ensure continued success.  We are looking to the future and believe we have to get more young people involved on all levels for our industry to continue and fundamentally attracting more young people to our race days.

Hence the Racegoers Club is primarily aimed at the younger age group – those that enjoy racing but may not be able to afford to lease or own their own racehorse outright.  However the Racegoers Club is open to all ages and we welcome your interest (sorry but the Racegoers Club is full for this season).

We now have four confirmed trainers and four confirmed horses which is great.  We have put all the information relating to the trainers, horses, udpates and photos under these headings on the website.
