MEDIA RELEASE
Gallop South is excited to announce the launch of a new promotion, The Racegoers Club, that sets out to encourage a simple and affordable option for people interested in stepping into the most exciting element of thoroughbred racing, racehorse ownership.
Membership of The Racegoers Club, which is set to open on August 1 and run for the duration of the 2010/11 season, will bring together 50 people to race a share in four different horses – two trained in Otago (by Brian and Shane Anderton and Paul Richards) and two trained in Southland (by Kelly Thompson and Ben and Sally Gordon).
With four horses running in the club’s colours, racecourse action will never be too far away and there will always be something to look forward to just around the corner.
Members will be entitled to full benefits extended by Gallop South to all racehorse owners every time their horses line up to compete in the region including drink vouchers, a complimentary race book and birdcage passes. They will also be invited to two special racecourse hospitality functions throughout the year and will gain an opportunity to partake in the Ultimate Race Day Experience, which gives an in depth “behind the scenes” look at a major race day with a visit to the starting gates and a trip to the commentator’s box.
All members of the Racegoers Club will be kept up to date with the latest training views and news via email and a special section of the Gallop South website. Communication with members will be of the highest priority and the Club Secretary, Charlotte Lindsay will always be pleased to take calls from members wanting to hear news first hand.
An excellent asset of the Racegoers Club is that it is an easy to budget for experience, with no surprises. Membership is a one-off cost of $400 (payable in installments), with nothing more to contribute. No matter what bills get passed on by the vet, the farrier or whoever else, the cost will not be forwarded on to you as a member.
In regards to prize money, everything any of the Club horses win will be simply retained in an account and split between the shareholders at the end of the racing season. It’s as simple as that.
Gallop South is determined to increase the number of people engaged in racing and always aims to offer an enjoyable high level experience. The Gallop South Racegoers Club is destined to do just that.
